Job Offer Description

The Tailings Management Project Manager will carry out various tasks for projects related to the safe and responsible management of tailings and water storage facilities. The candidate will participate, for example, in the design of tailings management manuals, plans and tools (OES manual, emergency plan, TARP, risk register, etc.). He or she will also conduct worker training activities, facilitate risk analyses, lead emergency testing and attend various workshops with mine sites. He or she will be the first point of contact for all projects under his or her responsibility.

The Project Manager will be required to constantly expand his or her field of expertise by participating in association and group initiatives, with the aim of learning and applying industry best practices.

The candidate will be able to call on the support of other project managers and the design team. He or she may also be responsible for a team.

The project manager will need to be familiar with the requirements of certain standards and regulations, such as TSM (Towards Sustainable Mining), GISTM (Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management) and the dam safety recommendations of the CDA (Canadian Dam Association).

Finally, he or she will be called upon to participate in all other environmental and social aspects of sustainable mining development.

Experience and qualifications

- Bachelor's degree (BAC) in mining, geology or civil engineering;

- Good knowledge of geotechnical engineering and the construction of backfill structures;

- Great interest in dike and dam safety;

- 5+ years experience in mining or related field;

- Autonomy and initiative;

- Listen carefully;

- Enjoy working on several projects at once;

- Good organizational skills, rigor and ability to work in a team;

- Good writing skills in French and English;

- Good extension and teaching skills;

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
